Long Beach Museum of Art

The Long Beach Museum of Art was established in 1950 and is one of Long Beach's oldest cultural institutions. It is an historic landmark, occupying the Elizabeth Milbank Anderson house and carriage house (built in 1911) and pavilion with two floors of expansive gallery space for changing exhibitions with the Museum Store in the Masterson Atrium. The Museum is owned by the City of Long Beach and is operated as a partnership between the City and the non-profit Long Beach Museum of Art Foundation.

SPECIALTIES

The Museum’s prized permanent collection includes approximately 3,000 paintings, drawings, sculptures, works on paper, and decorative arts objects (furnishings and accessories). Particular strengths lie in 300 years of ceramics, early 20th century European art, California Modernism and contemporary art of California.
